I am trying to understand what the marketing carrier and booking code should be between SE Asia and Tokyo so I can have pre-reserved seating.

I've flown both AA and JL coded N fare tickets on JL metal and you won't be able to choose seats in advance.

I'm not sure about AA coded O fare on JL metal, but I think it also won't have advanced seat assignment given it's one class below N.

Basically just choose anything V/S above on either carrier and you should be able to choose seats.
