I thought the old EVA "deluxe" seats in the nose of the 747 were the best value ever. Because of the odd layout there were numerous seats with "infinite" legroom. and few middles, so if the flight was not full a good chance of an empty seat next to you.

I would fly that today, even with the ancient IFE system that could show re-runs of the Flinstones on "native" hardware :-)

Alas, those are gone so back to reality.

EVA and Cathay are about the same and can be consider as the first choice.

I also have not used CI (China Air) new seats, but they have good recs by others. Also, I think CI ups you to Biz seats on a short connection if they have no PE.

Assuming your destination is SE Asia, be careful about the Japan/Korean flights as you might have a moderately lengthy connection on "something".
