Does the system let you buy miles along with/after a ticket purchase on international flights? I didn't have plans to book additional travel before my Amex credit ran out, and I just ended up attaching 3K miles to a existing booking by one of those 'turbocharge your miles' or whatever it's called. ($50 credit and the cost was $59, so reasonably good value)
