As I had hand luggage I wanted in the cabin / near me, I boarded with the CE/Gold boarding call (well marshalled actually) and noted quite a few beeps ahead of me with what I presume were upgrades. Once the doors closed I noted zero spare seats on the E170 and 8 of us in CE. After take-off the CSM came into the cabin and gave a menu to 1B and 1C only. He came back for orders a minute later and when 1C said he needed a minute to decide and that he could ask 1D the CSM said only 1B and 1C were getting meals. As I was on an RFS ticket and the seat was the same (4A vs.1A) and I got my G&T and a packet of crisps, no issues from me. No else in CE complained but given the full load, I would have thought BA would know from quite early in the day CE would have the full 8 seats filled?

If pax were upgraded at the gate then:
- no lounge (none at LCY anyway)
- no priority check-in (unless OW status)
- no extra baggage allowance (ditto)
- no meal
- drinks still free from LCY in ET
- exactly the same seating as ET on the Embraers
- no extra Avios or TPs
I may be missing something but... this would have been an "upgrade" how exactly?
