I didn't have specific insurance covering my climbing gear sadly. Lesson learned. I've bought some cheap new supermarket brand clothes and toiletries to last me so far, but obviously it becomes harder with more specialist equipment. I'll buy the minimum gear I need to continue with the trip, and take it up with BA later. It's good to know others have had success.

Tracking the items is interesting. When I phone BA, they keep disagreeing with what WT says, telling me that WT is wrong (I don't think it is). It's been in the "being delivered by courier" state for 2 days now. A little odd as the forest I'm in is only 30 mins by car from Orly, not isolated at all. I could have walked it quicker.

Thanks all.
Happened to me (although this was about 10 years ago before the cost-cutting mentality really kicked in). I went away for four days' skiing to Austria and my ski bag wasn't delivered. It contained my skis but also my ski jacket and trousers and various other ski clothes.

I bought a ski jacket and trousers, borrowed some gloves and rented a pair of skis. From memory it came to £550 in all and BA paid up without an argument. I was Gold then, though, and I don't know if having been Silver would have made them more reluctant. (The bag turned up on the last day.) Ended up with a nice new ski jacket, as well.
