I do detect a definite tightening of attitude. I've had Global Entry for just over three years, and I've never been asked a single question before - either by the officer making sure I had the right slips of paper from the machine, or the subsequent customs point.
A few weeks ago, at SFO, the customs officer - for no apparent reason - decided to ask me about four or five questions, not about my declaration, but my plans, hotel, length of stay plus a couple of others. Now, I know the CBP deals with both issues, but it was somewhat outside the norm and surprising.
I suspect we're going to see more of this as time goes by.
