Edit: For the life of me I can't find any reference to it, even in the old threads, so I could just be confusing this with something else. I'm still going to buy something tomorrow using my latest card (since I just got an extra 10k miles), just in case.
Guys, you do not need the charge, Citi will not generate the statement, but the bump will still post as an adjustment to your AA account without any statement being generated. But go ahead and spend a dollar on the card for your piece of mind, it does not make any difference.
