It depends how you plan to spend them.

If you do plenty of homework first on availability (or lack thereof) on your favoured routes and can work with what you see, then go for it.

But we see a fair few people here who convert and then discover there are no seats on their routes / dates. They can't convert the points back, so they feel stuck with a balance they can't use.
