Introduction Hi folks, I have decided to finally post about a vacation stay. I'm a Hilton Diamond level guest, so I typically shy away from nit-picking as Hilton has always taken care of me and I do not wish to overemphasize the negatives. That said, of all the past ten years of vacations at Hilton properties, in Canada, Europe or Mexico, I had to share some of the quirks I experienced that, surprisingly puts this year's vacation near the bottom of my wonderful Hilton experiences. The room we booked was a waterfront view, and it was wonderful with the exception of no guest refrigerator, which strangely appeared on the last day of our nine day stay. We had to stuff the mini bar to keep drinks cold. The bed was average at best, as I pretty much woke up with a stiff back every morning. Due to the way the room is oriented, there are no sunrise or sunset views - I wish that I had known this before booking. The junior suite has plenty of room, but no desk, so there's minimal flat surface space. The couch is not comfortable as it is not high backed and has a scratchy fabric.Vista Lounge, Club, Whatever it isThis is still pretty puzzling to me. The nicely furnished lounge opens out on a patio with beautiful views. Soft drinks and water are available from morning until 10PM. Then it gets interesting. There are snacks served from about 515PM to 630PM. And they are SERVED. You may not go up and take your own. You may not take them yourself and bring them back to the room, even for desserts. One of two days that we made this narrow window of opportunity and were fully planning on going out for dinner later, tiny pieces of delicious sushi rolls were served, but you had to follow a process: One would get up and ask a server who was usually engaged in conversation, "could I please have some." They would reply, "I will bring it to your table." Then they would bring a couple of dishes. No soy sauce or extra wasabi. You had to repeat the painful process once you downed the delicious, but diminutive three pieces. Later I attempted to bring a couple of teeny tiny dessert bites back to the room, but was stopped at the door. That did not stop me as I took out my trusty Hilton to go coffee cup and made off when the watchful eye of the server was distracted

Another Vista benefit is some fragrance they spray in the room, according to your mood selection, but I did not notice any difference. That said, two things about the room were stellar: the housekeeping, as well as the room service. They serve some of the most delicious and reasonably priced burgers and pizza around. Housekeeping really saves the day at this hotel, even making little animal towels - I was sure to leave a well deserved gratuity every day. However, the annoyances continued. The bell station must request a taxi, which, all the time for us, was a driver that could not speak english, find the Starbucks in town and on two occasions wanted us to walk a half mile to our destination. I understand it is not their fault that the hotel is located midway between St Jose and Los Cabos, making travel each way $30 USD for an old, unkempt van. Again, as the manager on duty stated, it is not their fault, as there is a strong union. Also, taxi drivers will try to add $5 USD to the price if you do not confirm. This happened twice and we had to stand there and negotiate both in front of the hotel and on the way back. We probably will wind up spending about $700 USD in taxi fares for a nine day stay.Room service is open through the night, but it is a really good idea just to buy snacks and water in town to have, otherwise you will be looking to have something to munch on and remember that the evening snacks are presented during that narrow 1.5hr window. We actually stayed last year at the Hilton Puerta Vallarta, and although that all-inclusive property had its issues, we were treated to a sunset and a wonderful array of food available until late.We were able to have breakfast coupons included and the omelettes were delicious. Here again, you had to wake up early to get to breakfast before the family "rush," and keep in mind that you are not allowed to smuggle out so much as a miniature waffle as a snack later. We were able to illegally sneak an omelet into a Hilton coffee cup, which worked out extremely well, but I felt like I was a real "Schnorrer" wanting that delicious second omelet for later

Whatever happened to having an Executive Lounge in these properties? I really wish that the Managers could travel to the Hilton L'Arc de Triomphe or the Hilton Old Quebec - these are properties that do it so well, in fact that may factor into our decision for next year or after that, God willing! Dining The room service menu, as well as the casual bar dining really shines here. The burgers and pizza are wonderful.
