BOS-LHR and BOS-ORY were primarily operated with AA's small subfleet of 3-class A300s through much of the 1990s. When the 3-class A300 subfleet was retired, BOS-LHR (along with, for a time, all other U.S.-LHR routes) transitioned to 777s and, around the same time, BOS-CDG moved to the 763. BOS-LHR then moved from 777s to 763s and then a mix of 763 and 757 before ending entirely, while BOS-CDG has been operated summer-only with just the 757 for several years. Finally, BOS-SNN and BOS-MAN both operated with the 757 for the brief period they operated about a decade ago, and BOS-LGW operated with a 762 when it operated in 1999. BOS-NRT, had it started as initially planned, was supposed to be an M11.

AA is increasingly becoming much more opportunistically seasonal with its network - and that is going to increasingly include fleet utilization. AA executives have spoken about this in the past. Widebodies have been mixing across LAA and LUS hubs for a bit now, but it's been quite limited. I'd expect this to accelerate considerably once crew integration is complete. Moving LAA 763s into PHL seems like an obvious choice and, on the flip side, there are definitely markets out of certain LAA hubs (like MIA) that seem like viable candidates for A330s, at least seasonally. I also think the 777 could be very attractive for certain high-volume markets like PHL-LHR.
