I would be helpful to know how much you will be spending and if you will pay your balance off in full. If you count on spending a substantial amount, I would look at cards with large sign up bonuses. The Chase Sapphire Preferred offers 50,000 points for spending $4000. You also get an extra 5,000 points for adding an authorized user. Although it's marked as a travel card, the points can be redeemed for $.01 per point. This means after meeting the minimum spend and getting the extra 5,000 points for the authorized user you will have close to 60,000 points worth about $600 cash back.

Normally this would not be the best overall spend card. But with the sign up bonus, you will get more bang for the dollar (for the first $4,000) than any other card. Also, it has an annual fee that is waved the first year. Since travel seems like it's low on your priority list, you could always downgrade this card to the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited before you get charged the first annual fee.

If you think you may end up carrying a balance you would probably be better off with the Chase Freedom Unlimited. It comes with a $150 sign up bonus after spending $500. More importantly it has 0% financing for the first 15 months.
