Typically, it seems that ex-Canada fares are quite high. The only real competition is AC and they have a comfy duopoly to keep prices high.

To add insult to injury, until recently BA seemed to send their oldest and rattiest planes to Canada too.

If you want to get annoyed look at Air Canada prices starting the USA and connecting in Toronto. Always cheaper than starting in YYZ. It's the Canadian version of ex EU.
