I have actually had the opposite happen a few times. A day or so before a flight, my coveted BF seat disappeared, and a "good" seat wasn't avail on the CO.com seatmap. But a quick call to reservations put me back in my original seat, shown as taken on the seatmap. NO CSR was able to expain this anomaly (sp?).
