To clarify what I think the OP was commenting at are the following:
  • Likes: irons and ironing boards in rooms
  • Dislikes: looking for a place to plug in an iron in the room that is convenient (i.e. does not require movement of furniture) and has sufficient adjacent work area to place the ironing board in order to use the now plugged in iron when the iron's cord is either partially or fully extended
A big part of the challenge of electrical outlets in hotel rooms is a) the number of devices that need to be plugged in that are now part of how the room is furnished (cable set top boxes, multiple lamps, etc.) and b) the vintage of the original construction of the hotel besides c) the number of devices that guests need to also plug in during their stay. A potentially secondary but important consideration is d) does the power stay on for those guest accessible electrical outlets when wall switches are turned off?

One way to quickly assess the vintage of a property (besides looking it up online) is the yellowing and condition of plastic plug plates and switch plates. Generally, when a property is renovated, they redo furnishings, furniture, sometimes the flooring in the bathroom but neglect to install new plug and switch plates as well as keep vintage shower/tub faucets and fixtures.
