Passenger walkway over aircraft at London Gatwick

http://www.baa.com/main/airports/gat...r_6_frame.html

This is a new walkway installed at London Gatwick across an aircraft taxiway to connect to a new remote pier. Clever engineering, good for them. It's the second in the world (the first being at Denver).

Unfortunately the PR department at BAA, owners of Gatwick, couldn't quite bring themselves to say that. Having got close, with "first in the UK" and "largest in the world", the PR writer cleverly puts "World first passenger bridge for Gatwick airport" as the title of the press release, hoping the general newspapers will then write "World's first ...", as indeed a couple have done !

It's just like Heathrow being misleadingly tagged the "World's busiest international airport", on the basis of the bizarre definition of an "international airport" that BAA uses.
