I have a Round the World plane ticket with the oneworld alliance. One option I was considering was flying into either Beijing or Shianghai, and then continuing overland from one of these to Hong Kong. Reasonable idea or no? Any obvious or popular routes, interesting travel ideas? I'm guessing trains would be a good part of the trek.

I am a flexible single traveller who often goes in "backpacker" style, travelling light and willing to "rough it" somewhat.
