If you do, you can log in and update your documents (passport/driver's licence) and you will see the card status changed to "Approved" once the new expiry dates are entered.
Updating in GOES only works on the U.S. side but the info never somehow gets to CBSA, therefore they require an update in person, via fax or e-mail.
