Even saturday and sunday at that time of the day would be a doomed situation!

I live close to LGW and regularly fly from LHR. Before 0530, if travelling on an EU e-passport with hand luggage, with no spontaneous roadworks or accidents, and with a healthy dose of both calm and optimism, you might get lucky.

This just will not work. Even three hours at this time of the day would fill me with, shall we say, a sense of intense adventure.
