You are aware that in China foreign airlines are prone to (sometimes significant) delays?

I would NOT risk connecting on 2 separate tickets at PVG.

Also - only certain airlines have agreement with Chinese authorities for airside transfer - there is an excellent thread on SK forum with pictures (taken at the airport transit board) which connections are possible airside (TG to AC are not):

So you have to clear Immigration (many nationalities do not need visa for transit of up to 3/5 days), pick up your baggage, clear Customs, go upstairs and check-in, clear Emigration and Security.
