A always assumed the electrical outlets were connected to the APU or external power link only, and only for ground use. I can't imagine those being live in flight. I also assume that is why the power ports aboard airplanes are the EM type, and require a special connection. Prevents overload or misuse of the power, or pulling electric current to use as a weapon. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe UA gets a cut of the $100+ power cables.
