The $1823 price I think is only good on the non-stop. Transfers will add a couple of dozen bucks, but ultimately worth it.
Intra-european legs on AF/KL (but not DL or AZ coded) almost always book straight into J for extra earnings. I have not checked this one but that's what I've found in the past. DL metal and AF/KL coded intra-US legs also often book into J.
Routing is restricted by MPM, but I haven't calculated out what it is. There is probably a way to book through DTW but not sure about MSP or ATL.

I think that only KL- or DL-coded segments on a KL ticket will be based on fare.
For an AF-coded segment on a KL-ticket, MQD should be based on distance.
The rules are confusing, but that is how I read it. The charts on the
SkyMiles earning page distance are based on marketing carrier, not ticketing carrier.
Though I agree that it's better the book at airfrance.us if at all possible. My most recent ticket I had to purchase at klm.com because I couldn't get my itin to price on airfrance.us. But I chose AF flight numbers wherever I could.
