I've been using Citi Exec for 2 years and that has provided me with Admirals Club. I'm going to cancel the card this month as I don't use the card for anything other than Club. Also, my wife doesn't travel without me, so the second card member doesn't provide benefit. Finally, I have the Chase Ritz which provides $300 / year towards club, and I use other benefits from that card, so I'm trying to cut back on my uber-expensive CCs.

Main question is, I intend to cancel my Citi card on Aug 31. I'm traveling that day, and I also intend to purchase a membership, I'm hopeful it's considered a renewal, but I'm somewhat doubting that.

Anyone know how to orchestrate this as a renewal?
