this. 874 miles is nothing. If there's a magazine subscription or something you can get, great, but otherwise, not really worth it.
Using Aeroplan miles for a reward flight will not reset your MP miles expiration - only possibility is if somehow there are IRROPS day of and rebooking is done incorrectly into a revenue class and you end up earning - unlikely these days as software is supposed to monitor to credit based on original fare class, not to mention RDM base fare should still be $0, but stranger things have happened.
To purchase wifi, it can be done onboard - the purchase page should have the options for you. Note that it won't be available to do with miles on flights that use GoGo wifi - that is UAX and PS flights.
A bit off-topic for your original question, but I woild argue that aeroplan is not really better than MP in most cases. Perhaps better search capabilities online, but if booking UA flights through Aeroplan, mileage prices should be the same, but AP still charges more than UA in fees for UA flights, and especially with the impending change to a new AC program in what, 2020, a lot of unknowns at this point about what the future will hold in practically every respect.
Thank you for your suggestions. But I like Aeroplan better is because it's the only program can allow 3 stopovers or 2 stops with 1 open jaw. MP only allows 2

. I recently booked a flight from LAX-PVG(stop)-HKG(stop)-GUM(overnight)-HNL(stop)-SFO(overnight)-LAX and it only cost me 75k miles + $80. If I bought the same itinerary with money, it would cost me 3k+. But you are right about one way or domestic flights.
