If it is useful to others, our HBO bookings were transferred to BA Holiday bookings by adding a car later on ba.com, and all BA Holiday bookings pax get one free checked bag (even on what was a HBO). No extra bag for the gold card but I never use that anyway. A good result, and per my previous experience BA Holidays 'phone line agents were very helpful.
