I have signed limited release note a couple of times when they see that my bags are to fragile. I normally drive to the airport from home and it does require a lot of force to break wheels like that.
I don't buy Rimowa or top of the line Samonite but I don't buy rubbish either.

Maybe your bag is too old? It all depends on the age of your suitcase. Recently Lufthansa smashed my almost brand new suitcase (second use) and it was bought 9 months ago and they deducted 10% or 15% of the value because it's not brand new. If it's new and you have a receipt from it, send it to TK.
