If you have the time, fly AKL-HKG using miles. Grab an MR flight HKG->US->HKG for ~$550 on AA/JL/CX and then get a cheap flight HKG-SGN or use Avios for CX.
If you have the time. It would save you a chunk of money AND get those miles you need.
