I read the post, the blogger was put into a window seat, for a TATL daytime flight, in a seat with not fully functional IFE and a broken leg rest next to someone who was spitting tobacco into a cup the entire flight.

The last detail is enough, I would rather ride grayhound that sit next to some guy spitting tobacco juice into a cup for 6.5 hours.

I have had some very good Y experiences, upper deck on OZ on the A380, SQ exit row on the 77W that I found very nice, with food that is better than what UA served the blogger, and a seat that was not bad, and very nice crew. Would I take that seat over a lie flat on a night flight TPAC, no. But if you said that the airline would not intervene and would allow a guy to spit brown crap into a cup for 6.5 hours, well that is an easy call.... OZ/SQ for me, every single time.

It is a review of a very bad flight, that is sadly reflective of what United will offer on a daily basis.
