Ex-LAX the catering is better on LX. Also, the in this direction the transit will be better in ZRH.. you can arrive and have breakfast at the fab E lounge, then walk to D soon before your flight to LHR.
If arriving at FRA, you will not be driven to the lounge or FCT. The walk from arriving at Z to B (where your LHR flight will leave from) is about 30mins, 20-25 if you know where you're going. The LHR flight will leave from a gate position so you'll need to queue with everyone else anyway.
Ex-LHR you will likely land at a remote gate in FRA so you'll be driven to FCL B or to the exit to be able to walk to the FCT. Then you'll definitely be driven to the plane. Also, the catering will be better on LH ex-FRA than out of the States.
I agree with most of what you said, except for one point. On arrival in FRA from LAX, the thread opener could walk to the FCT and would be driven to the plane to LHR from there, if the car ride is an important issue.
