One of the reasons I wanted to go through YVR is just to avoid this particular route...

But now it looks like I may have to go this path anyway. .

And yes, this is for a (US) Thanksgiving holiday. I guess between HK and Vancouver not many celebrate these particular dates (I know Canada has their own Thanksgiving day), as I imagine the loads must have been light enough on the outbound flight such that they were OK to cancel.
