Looks very interesting to use with their data plan for limited use such as country hopping and local SIMs for extended stays. I'm assuming the UI for local SIMs is through the app.
Were you able to easily throttle the data use by smartphone apps since they think they are on WiFi and can consume unlimited data? My iPhone has a good UI to do this for cellular data but I haven't found anything for WiFi.
P.S.: I also have FreedomPop SIMs but wasn't aware they worked in Europe.
the freedom pop worked great for me in Paris walking around the city and London(airport)
the glocalme is managed via its app and webpage portal. It blocks access to the App Store to prevent updates (and downloads) this is an option so you can disable it as well.
For Japan I usually just buy the 3GB data package for 19€. It loads via PayPal and something else which I can't remember off hand.
