In terms of turbulence it is impossible to say how 'good' or 'bad' it is as it depends so much on weather factors and the jet stream on the day. It's also a bit personal as some people do appear to be more affected than others.

For example the storms predicted for today over the NE of the USA are likely to veer over the Atlantic increasing the likelyhood of flights being affected.

But airlines and ATC do try and avoid it if they can by changing the route or flight level.

As to engines VS have had some issuesrecently - involving the engines on their 787s but these are being addressed. But if VS or Rolls Royce felt it was a risk to the plane, their staff and passengers they would ground them.

Yes there was an incident last week involving a VS 787 to LAX but that was a deliberate engine shutdown due to an oil leak not a random one of the engine doing it itself. It was an issue specific to that engine type not the 787 plane. The pilots took action and the plane landed safely. That can happen to any plane and engine.

Remmber that in the days of 24/7 news and numerous 'news' sites and often sketchy details the same incident can be seen as being several and so exagerate the situation especially if more accurate information released later is not reported.
