Korean Air treated me well when I was Silver on Delta a few years ago. I was able to use the Morning Calm check in lines and priority boarding (and my non-status friends). They will also put you in business seats with Y service on oversold flights (also did this for my two non status friends ICN-MNL). You should ask at check in if the flight is oversold. If so, ask about sitting in J with Y service. This is very common practice for KE to do. I also received it Gimpo to Osaka with no status, just by asking.
And all KE Y seats are the same glorious 34-35" pitch on every international Y plane (except 737 which are used for Japan flights).
Also, call KE directly to select your seats now. They block off half the cabin until web check in opens, typically leaving the back half open for pre-selection. At web check in, the entire cabin opens. They do keep the very, very front rows for their elite members, but I have gotten as far as 33 (starting 29) with no status.
