Just went through a similar but less chaotic down computer event at a Sheraton in Anaheim. They claim AT&T Internet service was down all around the area. They eventually checked me in by hand (used the old swipe machine to take my credit card) and later gave me 3,500 SPG pts for the inconvenience.
Checking out of the Radisson DTW a few days ago, a wind storm caused the power to blink out for a few seconds just as they were finalizing my folio. Had to wait for everything to reboot before they could print it. I was impressed with their disaster recovery procedures. A manager immediately appeared on a walkie-talkie communicating with various departments about any problems that appeared around the hotel.
