Flying club; Y service

Strange one. My wife, Mrs. SGM, was on Saturday's BA167 LHR-TLV. She is silver and this was a cash club ticket. Last minute equipment change resulted in a (perfectly inconsequential) seat shift and bad delay but otherwise all looked well.

She thought it strange that she was not offered a washbag or menu but was told that they were not loaded (although some other people around her got them). She also got a PE meal (no choice) and was offered one drink only (her request for a refill was declined because of 'limited supply,' as was a request for a bottle of water).

She asked to see the purser/CSM. The CSM(?) explained that she received the service because she was operationally upgraded. Mrs. SGM responded that she was not an operational upgrade and had paid for the cabin she was sitting in. Manager said 'sorry, it looked like you were, but yes I don't see you on my upgrade/deny service list' and 'we do have some spare J meals if you are still hungry and I am happy to give you the water and second glass of wine.' She took the cheese and wine.

Wife is really pissed and telling me that we must adopt a ABBA strategy. The worst thing apparently was not the food/drink/bag/menu but the 'how dare you sit in this cabin' attitude of one fa - my wife reports he just ignored her for the flight other than to give her 'dirty looks.'
