Just to clarify - it does NOT work with UA. You MUST pay the ticket with the UA CC to get the free checked bag. It works differently than Citi.

So unless this is a first hand experience on AS card, I would not generalize a Citi AA card feature to a BofA AS card as Chase UA card already works as the exact words in the T&Cs, that the flight must be paid with the UA card. If not, even your Mileage Plus number is linked to the booking and UA definitely knows you have the Chase UA card, you are still SOL in getting the free checked bag.
