In retrospect, I should have pushed harder on getting the agent to try to manually push through space on JKF-DFW (was successful on a South America award a few months ago getting MIA-DFW pushed through when no space was showing).
Yeah, the fee for changes sucks. Still, if it's far enough out, there's a good chance of schedule changes.
Congratulations on getting RM to release a seat on MIA-DFW. I've had zero success last year and this on anything, even puddle-jumper flights that were wide open. I tried for JFK-DFW a lot to make an EY award work, but given how few flights there are JFK-DFW (I was surprised), that wasn't going to happen. Instead I booked AS out of EWR, and changed when space opened up on AA JFK-LAX.
