Or perhaps you were but not your daughters if they have no status though one would typically expect parties to usually not be split. I have a feeling that they might have chosen to penalise the codeshare passengers and this would not be the first time that I hear that as the commercial value of someone who booked through another airline is often perceived to be potentially less than own pax. Anyway, hope you get all the way tonight (and also though less importantly that the compensation is sorted out right away indeed).
