So the mystery continues, since if they had 2 bookings to get rid of, why not find an adult couple without status without on-carriage / connnections? It seems like extra work for all concerned. I presume it wasn't an Avios booking or 2 PNRs. One possibility would be it was an oversale by 3, they selected the a random 3 person booking, and then someone cancelled thereafter.
I did raise this with the check in agent but she said there was no ideal solution when they looked... I'm not completely convinced!

The booking was all cash, no Avios involved.

Calchas... the agent did say she is looking to book us on the later flight this evening even though it is already overbooked. I.e. They would bump other passengers off. Again I'm not convinced!

Apparently the reason for the overbooking "every day" this week is because they are using a lower capacity aircraft.
