Congrats on your upcoming wedding, Joecool1885! I think you chose an absolutely wonderful resort for your honeymoon
Maybe I missed it, but when will you be there? I ask because as Mary2e mentioned, the occupancy rate is quite high regardless of the time of year. I was last there at the end of January, and the
only rooms available for part of our stay were ocean view suites. I paid cash for the OV suite and was quite happy that I could even get a room at the hotel!
I imagine there are others who would also pay for a suite, and the hotel just wants to maximize their potential revenue by holding off on assigning you a better suite until the last minute. I've also noticed this property frequently offers guests a chance to upgrade their room upon arrival for a fee (i.e. obtain a paid upgrade). All this basically means a confirmed upgrade into a better suite months in advance is quite unlikely; however, I wouldn't give up entirely.
I would definitely email the GM about 2 to 3 weeks before you arrive and explain how happy you are to be spending your honeymoon at his hotel. Certainly mention your Globalist status, and how pleasant you past 4 stays and 30 nights have been, and that
anything he could do to make your honeymoon more memorable would be greatly appreciated (especially a room upgrade). I have had very good luck using this method at other sold out hotels in peak season. (I am a Hilton Diamond, and got a wonderful upgrade to a Rome view suite at the Waldorf Cavalieri for my parents' anniversary by nicely emailing the concierge as described above.) Be pleasant in your email, don't come across as a DYKWIA, and you may be nicely surprised upon arrival. Good luck and enjoy Kauai. Aloha
