During WW2, the Brit "Intelligence" had control over most of the German spies. When V1s started landing on London, the Intelligence got the German spies to report that they were all landing North of London, or in North London. So the Germans re-targeted them.
So lots of V1s and V2s landed in South London. They destroyed my Granny's house, and she received no compensation. I guess it is too late to claim now.
Moreover, your poor Granny lost her home and everything and claiming compensation was not even on her mind. Staying alive was. I wonder why South London was considered strategically less important?
Most interesting that story - I heard something identical with the reporting of the Iraqi Scuds on Jeddah which all fell short for exactly the same reason.
