I agree with your sentiments, but I also feel it is sad that, for want of any further explanation, someone would seek compensation merely because something that may have been inevitable happened at a particular place and a particular time.

I hope those who believe in such liabilities are equally happy to compensate any visitors, be they guests or passing salesmen, who suffer any misfortune whilst visiting them.
