Travel Agent-booked flights disappeared from MMB
Newbie to the forum (though long-ish time reader).
5 of us travelling Edinburgh to Mexico over Christmas/NewYear with BA, and thanks to some of the strategies and tips highlighted in this forum I’ve managed to get return flights in J for two of us on a 2-4-1; decent paid fares and avios upgrades for the others. Happy Days.
Two of our group booked a WT+ return through a travel agent,which we managed to upgrade the outbound leg to J using Avios. The booking appeared in MMB, before and after the Avios upgrade, however a schedule changeto the EDI-LHR leg caused the EDI-LHR and LHR-MEX legs to disappear from MMB (The rest of the group, on separatePNRs, have the new EDI-LHR flights and everything else unchanged in MMB).
So when we called BAEC to see what the issue is, they told us to deal with the agent. The agent tells us because of the Avios upgrade,they don’t have control of the flight bookings anymore and we’ll have to deal with BA. Several phone calls to each party and we’re no closer to a resolution!
My understanding is that the agent loses control of the booking once it has been upgraded using avios, but BA can’t/won’t help.
Can anyone here shed any light on this?
