A while back now I flew LH F (award) to FRA and onward from MCO and was talking with a Gentleman who works for Mercedes and he said that from his office (not sure where though I do not think it is FL, could be wrong however) MCO was the nearest non-stop to Germany.

IIRC Orlando has a bunch of defense contractors as well as Siemens and a bunch of other big companies, so the non-stops to Europe make sense.

TPA has always sort of interested me as it is close to Orlando but has had a BA flight for a long while, Edelweiss Air and soon or possible even now Lufthansa.
