I believe my UA flight is departing from B but I don't like going to landside lounges because I worry about the long security wait (even though I have global entry) and I sometimes lose track of time once inside a lounge so already being airside would make it easier to just run to the gate. I just worry about not being let into the AC lounge in A when my flight is out of B.
I've had issues with getting into a terminal that wasn't my departing terminal at JFK. One agent wouldn't let me through at T4 (I think?) but when I went to the another terminal (also not my departing terminal), I went through no problem, so I think YMMV
Whether your departing UA flight is from C or B, you're going to have to go through security after visiting either the PP lounge at B (landside) or the ML lounge at A (airside but has no airside connection to the rest of the airport). Seems easiest just to visit the one at B as you don't have to make an unnecessary trip through security just to get to the lounge.
