So, does anyone have problems getting the discount both ways in WTP for very low fares? I am seeing ~$1250-$1260 on certain days OAK-LGW but I can only ever get the discount on the outbound, while the inbound goes up in price to mostly eliminate any benefit (net$10-20 less). Just bad luck, or common on the lowest fares?

WT+ to CW upgrades are not always a good deal for these AARP discount tickets (or for any US originating BA tickets). When upgrading, BA charges the difference in taxes and fees between the cabins. For US originating tickets, that difference is currently $700 between WT+ and CW! Actual taxes and fees are the same, this $700 is 100% BA "carrier surcharge".
So it's your understanding now that ANY ex-US WT+ to CW upgrade gets the $700 fee (oneway or each way?), not just AARP discount or BA Holidays?
