This is what I had in mind in regard to how to achieve that - I did B-Schengen to Z and back this way (coming/leaving on LG to LUX).
That said I don't think that the passport-checks take too long on both ends, and they are certainly less bothering than the additional security check (and probably also less time-consuming)...
