Ok, that sounds great, I purchased a flight from AA.com last week and would now like to covert $50 in e-Rewards for 2,500 miles. Once I redeem, how will this award get posted? After completing travel, will it post to my AA account? I'm not really clear on how it would match up with my account or be able to track my flight activity. I figured you had to enter an e-Rewards code on the AA.com screen while booking or something.

Thanks,
Mike

Then you can purcahse a flight from aa.com. It's also ok to purchase a flight from aa, then redeem the award. You don't have to redeem the award before booking the flight.
