For US CP's (don't know about overseas), many of the buildings themselves are old and dated designs. So even a massive renovation wouldn't solve the problem for those properties. Rather they would have to take the McDonald's approach and tear down the building and build a new one onsite. I speculate that the cost to do so is prohibitive for the franchisees.
