To me, that doesn't sound like it needs to be the case-- the mixing of eVIPs and regular should not, IMHO, be a fatal impediment to getting the whole thing on one PNR-- which would, of course, make a huge difference to the chances of your entire clan being upgraded. Try and get a different answer.
