I think it is all a matter of luck overall. Not all that will respond to this thread will have the same experience. Is your acct # reflected in the reservation, at the minimum the perks/benefits will apply, upgrade will be debatable. You can always try emailing the property ahead of time to confirm your reservation and remind them of your status and any special request. When it comes to hotel room upgrades, which are always pending on capacity, is to not expect them, be happy with what I've book, and be pleasantly surprised when I get them.
